Vinted Users Express Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
