The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with utilizing the full worth of frozen Russian assets to support the Ukrainian military campaign, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a joint statement, the officials of the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this coordinated action would increase strain on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the move would be implemented in strong partnership with the US.

United Kingdom penalties have frozen in excess of £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow initiated its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, until now, money sent to Ukraine using Russia's assets had only been sourced from gains and dividends accrued on them.

Sir Keir told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to push forward toward using the full value of the immobilized Moscow's national holdings to halt hostilities.

He added that additional sanctions in the coming days and weeks would increase the strain on the Russian government.

This announcement comes after European leaders convened in the Danish capital last week to discuss using immobilized Russia's assets for a €140 billion financial aid to Ukraine.

In the previous month, US President Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to seize or otherwise use immobilized Russia's assets, according to news outlets.

The total of immobilized Russia's assets in the European Union is estimated to be almost €211bn.

Russia launched large-scale bombardments throughout Ukraine on that day, causing blackouts in large parts of the capital city, the city, and several other zones.

Two people were fatally injured and a minimum of 20 people were wounded in the strike, authorities in Ukraine stated.

In a post on an online platform after the strike, Zelensky commented that the cynical and calculated attack aimed at civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What's needed is not just talk but firm measures - from the US, the European Union, and the seven nations - in delivering defense mechanisms and applying restrictions," he emphasized.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky declared, in a different message.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed media outlets he would press Sir Keir to enter the weapons procurement scheme, under which Nato countries acquire weapons from the America to donate to Ukraine.

While commending the UK's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he remarked it should indicate firmly that it would engage in the system, as well as apply additional restrictions on Moscow.
