The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
