Grief as Beloved South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation grappling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old media personality was confronted by a trio of assailants, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
The motive of the attack has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended are in custody, as per the official statement.
How It Happened
Law enforcement indicated that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a premises in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the property supervising the setup of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, it was reported.
"Authorities believe the deceased was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before running from the location on foot," authorities said.
Security camera video showed a man with dreadlocks and dressed in what looked like a protective services outfit firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and nothing was taken during the attack.
Key evidence, like bullet casings, were discovered at the location.
