Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign hopes to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it fails to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“It has a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup
The song was recorded after a solidarity show held in late summer. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby includes a selection of acclaimed names from the music world. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a team of producers and composers. The single blends a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The organizers behind the campaign have clarified that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These resources will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a spokesperson explained. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the area was noted for its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”
The song is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a digital service from mid-December.
